What is hypertension?
Hypertension, also known as high blood pressure, is when the blood pressure in the arteries is higher than 140/90. Hypertension can lead to serious health problems such as heart disease, liver problems, heart attacks, and many other health risks.
Who is more likely at risk of having hypertension?
Anybody can have high blood pressure; some people are more propense to suffer from hypertension:
– Obesity
– Too much salt consumption
– No physical activity
– Drinks alcoholic beverages
– Smokes
– Adults 55+
Does hypertension show any symptoms?
Hypertension affects 65 million adults in the United States. Because having blood pressure does not normally show any symptoms, most adults are not aware they have it.
If you want to know if you suffer from high blood pressure, the only way to know is to have daily blood pressure checkups by your primary health provider.
It is considered extremely dangerous when blood pressure is above.
If you have high blood pressure you may experience some of these symptoms
– Headache
– Confusion, fatigue
– Nose bleeds
– Difficulty breathing
– Chest pain
